#IAMME, Even When I May NOT Feel Like Me

Me, a term of personal usage that one utilizes to refer to her or himself as an object of a verb or preposition. Me, who I call myself when referring to, myself. Me, the wholistic nuclear being that makes Nova, well, Nova.

Mirrored images of myself upon daily occurrences. What do I see? How do I see myself? I see the beauty of my ancestors, the red and brown undertones beneath the paleness, small duck lips, large coffee, almond ojos, and the polka dots that create a heart when you connect them. Go DEEPER……

Instances take place though, where we may not feel the positive aspects that we see and feel in ourselves. From times when everything is going well and then BOOM, something crashes and comes down, or when it seems as if nothing is going right or your way, or when you just look in the mirror and don’t feel beautiful. Or when you and your significant other have parted ways? How about when you thought you landed something and you get the news that you didn’t??

Like when I recently did not get into the Fohr Freshman Class!! Blue lights of water began to fill my eyes, thunder shook my chest and fire flowed through my veins. Or the time when I woke up feeling like I looked like Gizmo from the Gremlins. How about when I just felt so down and out? These times are few and between. I am human though, and they do occur.

The victory lies in how you address and conquer the intervening emotions and feelings!!

Here are some ways in which I tackle emotions and negative feelings:

I engage in something that makes me happy. Whether that is sitting outside and reading my current read, spending some time with myself, taking myself out on a date, or even taking the time to admire my beautiful plants. Participating in something that I enjoy allows me to bring in positive energy and happiness vibes into my aura.

I have always been a writer. My journals are filled with sincerely funny stories, events and happenings that have taken place over the course of my life. They are so hilarious, some even strange, and more even sad. They are a part of me and I go back and read them ever so often. I stopped writing for awhile. When I recently was having a roller coaster of emotions, I decided to make one of my September intentions about writing in my journal daily. This has helped me so much in addressing, managing and releasing negative emotions and feelings.


An altar is a structure upon which offerings such as sacrifices are made for religious purposes. Or any purpose at that. My manifestation altar grounds me in ways that I could never imagine. I conduct my New Moon and Full Moon rituals, morning routine, and Zen time at my altar. When I am feeling particularly “low” or emotional, it provides me with a space to woooosaaahh and brings me back to a zone of positivity. Filled with love, joy, and small entities that are close to my heart, my altar is my sacred place.


A statement or proposition that is declared to be true is referred to as an affirmation. Delving within, it is termed as emotional support or encouragement. Affirmations are deeply intense and provide a language in which the brain responds to. Positive affirmations are statements that are spoken, and often repeated, to encourage and uplift the person speaking them. I repeat affirmations to myself on a daily basis. I look in the mirror while speaking my affirmations, repeating them over and over. Confirming them and engraining them into my soul.

A few of my daily affirmations include:

Your beauty and intelligence permeates throughout your being and allows for your greatness.

You are amazing. You are mindful. You are kind. You are delicate. You deserve the positive dopeness that you are receiving.

Your mental is the core, strength and powerhouse of you. Feed, water and nurture it throughout your day.

Here is a short guide to creating your affirmations:

1) Positive affirmations are always in the present tense. If you see a positive affirmation that says “I will,” “I used to” or “I’m going to,” move on. Your brain only responds to present tense statements.

2) Positive affirmations only include positive words. If you see a positive affirmation that has words like “don’t,” “can’t” or “won’t,” it’s not a statement you’ll want to repeat. It takes your brain a lot of extra work to get past negative statements and transform them into positive ones.

3) Positive affirmations are spoken as statements of fact and truth. Statements that contain words like “might” and “could” aren’t nearly as powerful as statements that contain words like “am” and “do.”


If the feelings are ongoing, I write down when I am having the feeling or emotions. I take note on how I am feeling, what is happening at the moment (what happened before, during and after the emotion), and how I react to the emotion/feeling. A few days into it, I analyze my notes, looking for patterns and trends to see if anything arises that can give me more information into what is taking place with me. From here, I take action and address anything that has come up.

My next step in this journey, is to incorporate a daily gratitude routine. I recently received a gift from my Aunt Joanna, The Magic, by Rhonda Byrne, that supports in one’s journey of gratitude. I will provide an update as I embark on this journey and addition in keeping with my emotional positivity and growth.

Yes, we are all beings and creatures of habit and we have less than positive feelings and emotions at times. We must acknowledge, cater, take charge and release any negativity.
