It's all in the Jeans

Dungarees??? Does anyone even know of that word anymore?? I feel like only a person of a certain age has even heard this word or even currently utilizes it. I often refer to dungarees, lol, as jeans. As I think most people do. In America, at least.

I haven’t actually referred to them in my wardrobe since I believe was, well, High School. Yup, you heard that right. I have NOT worn jeans since High School. Even though many have contributed this to religion and/or insecurity, the reason has nothing to do with any of those. In all actuality, I used to love how jeans hugged my curves in the right places and covered my Jordans or Timbs with their bootcut style. I used to go hard for some boot cut jeans! Hehehehe!

There came a time when I convinced myself that a woman, a grown woman, a lady all in her own right, did not wear jeans. That these type of woman, grown, bold, and bosses, only wore dresses. That is what I decided to do because I felt that I was that type of woman. And…..that was all she wrote. It was dresses here on out for Ms. Nova. No matter the season or the weather, I dressed, literally, my curves with any and every dress that I could find.

Gracing the streets in my frilly, girly and out-of-the-box dresses, I felt confident, strong and myself. Along with those feelings, I felt comfortable. A dress provides me with a level of comfortability that gives me the opportunities to be free with my movement, daily job activities and freedom for my thunder thighs. ; )

Although my perspective about woman of a certain status and personal feeling should only wear dresses has slightly changed, my preference is still to wear dresses day in and day out. ALTHOUGH, for #takerisksthursday for this week, I took the lunge to get myself into a pair of jeans!! Yes, I know, I couldn’t believe it myself. Along with that, I had to go shopping for some jeans. And boy was that a task in itself. Head to my youtube channel to see my experience and jeans haul!

Jeans, oh, jeans. Slipping these hamhocks into jeans for the first time in a long time was no easy feat girls. I do not know how you all do it. These particular pair did have limited stretch, so that may have contributed to the squirming, squeezing, jumping and laying. Woooooh child. LOL. I did not know what shirt, sweater or house to wear as a top. What would I wear that would suit my jeans and flow right with my figure. Alas, I conquered what I thought would be a disaster, and this here fit you see, is my success!!

Tell me what you think!!

In my shopping and jeans haul, I came across some amazing denim and jeans. I even tried on a few pair. Don’t forget to head to my youtube channel to check out my jeans haul video.

Below, I have categorized the various types of denims into four sections. Skinny jeans has the most choices of course, because these are the style of jean that seem to be first choice in today’s fashion scene.

Mom Jeans

Boyfriend Jeans

Skinny Jeans

Out of the “Blue” Jeans

I currently styled my first go ‘round back on the denim scene with a bright pink sneaker. This allowed me to stay true to my cool, comfortable, and collected aesthetic. Denim can of course be styled with an array of shoe choices from heels, wedges, boots and sneakers. IF, and I say if, I dare to wear jeans again, I may try some high boots or heels. We shall see! LOL! As you are shopping, styling and gracing your hip-hugging or just the right amount of baggy jeans, be sure to stand tall and proud in your denim, all of course while being,
